Size Selected Clusters on Surfaces

چکیده
Size selected metal oxide, sulfide and oxynitride clusters, soft-landed onto highly ordered pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) at room temperature, have been studied in this work. Based on their size and chemical compositions, the deposited clusters have exhibited various surface structures as illustrated by in situ Scanning Tunnelling Microscope (STM) and ex situ Atomic Force Microscope (AFM). In contrast to pure metal clusters, size selected metal compound clusters have shown different surface behaviours due to their different cluster-surface

Formation, deposition and examination of size selected metal clusters on semiconductor surfaces: An experimental setup
An instrument designed to investigate the chemical behavior of size selected metal clusters on semiconductor surfaces is described. The clusters re formed using laser vaporization, mass selected in a magnetic mass analyzer and deposited on TiO2 substrates under UHV conditions with + + mpact energies ranging from ≤1 to >100 eV/atom. Intensities of mass selected Aun and Agn clusters range from 0....

In this review, we examine the role of oxide support defects, cluster size-dependence, cluster structural fluxionality, and impurity doping on the catalytic properties of size-selected metal clusters on surfaces. By combining experimental results from the oxidation of CO on sizeselected gold clusters with ab-initio calculations, a detailed picture emerges of the electronic and structural dynami...

Chemistry of mass-selected Au clusters deposited on sputter-damaged HOPG surfaces : The unique properties of Au8 clusters
Mass-selected Au clusters consisting of less than 10 atoms were deposited on sputter-damaged HOPG surfaces. Oxidation and reduction of the Au clusters were studied using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Only Au8 can be significantly oxidized by oxygen and reduced by CO, and the result is different from those for Au clusters deposited on silica. The chemical properties of mass-selected clusters...
